Kamadhenu with the Devathas residing in the cow

About Goseva

Worshipping the cow is a custom in Hindu tradition called Gopuja, and the Puranas give it great importance. They say the four oceans are in the milk of the cow, and Vedic scholars say all the worlds are held within her.

Lord Siva dwells in the forehead and horns; water sprinkled on the horns is equal to the waters of Triveni Sangamam. Lord Subrahmanya resides in the nose, the Aswini Devathas in the ears, and the Sun and Moon near the eyes, bringing light of knowledge and prosperity.

Varuna resides on the tongue, Saraswati in the voice, Yama and Dharma on either side of the face, the four Purusharthas in the udder, Indra in the neck, the Nagadevathas at the hooves and the Gandharvas and Apsaras in the hooves. In every way, worship of the cow is the worship of all Devi Devathas.
