About the Mahasamsthanam
The birthplace of Sri Sripada Srivallabha at Srikshetra Pithapuram, under the Endowments Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh.
Birth of Sripada Srivallabha
Lord Sripada Srivallabha is the first and foremost incarnation (Avatar) of Jagatguru Sri Dattatreya. His incarnation took place in 1320 AD at Srikshetra Pithapuram in Bharata Desa.
Sripada Srivallabha is verily Sri Dattatreya himself. There is no difference between Sri Datta and Sripada. Hence when Sripada Srivallabha is worshipped and prayed to in the same way as Sri Datta, He grants the same result.
Right from his childhood at Srikshetra Pithikapuram, Sripada Srivallabha said many times that he is Sri Datta himself, a phenomenon far beyond the Trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Maheswara.
Miracles and Divine Play
His preachings, actions, sportive plays and miracles up to his thirtieth year at Pithapuram and Kuruvapuram were strange, wonderful, unheard of and beyond logic. Through his divine miracles Sripada Srivallabha revealed his power and conveyed the good news of his descent to devotees spread far and wide.
The Aim of the Avatar
The aim of his incarnation is to bless Maha Siddhas and Maha Yogis and to uphold Dharma through them in the universe. Imparting knowledge to the ignorant through his actions, plays and miracles is part of his Avataric programme.
